Born in Athens to Lebanese-Canadian parents and based between London and Athens, Lara Eidi is an award-winning independent artist whose work exists at the intersection of cultures, histories, and musical traditions. A singer-songwriter, pianist, composer, and genre-defying vocalist, she creates music that transcends borders, drawing on influences from folk, jazz, classical music, and the rich musical heritage of the Mediterranean and beyond.
Described by Jazz UK as “a true gift… a kind soul, and a captivating presence”, Eidi has established herself as a distinctive voice on the international music scene. Her music has been featured on BBC Radio, France 24, and international media outlets, while her performances have taken her across the UK, Europe, and Lebanon. She has appeared at renowned venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Union Chapel, and World Heart Beat, and has performed ancient music from Greece and the Levant with the acclaimed ensemble Saudha.
A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Eidi's artistry is rooted in both classical and jazz traditions while remaining deeply personal and ever-evolving. Her critically acclaimed album Sun, nominated for Best Album of the Year at the Orpheus Music Awards, weaves together folk, acoustic rock, jazz, and chamber music into a powerful exploration of hope, empowerment, and freedom.
Alongside her work as a recording and performing artist, Eidi is an accomplished composer whose music has featured in film and interdisciplinary projects. Most recently, she contributed the original composition Maktub to Lebanese director Soula Saad's award-winning documentary It Takes a Lot of Hands to Heal Beirut, an evocative tribute to the city's resilience in the aftermath of the August 4 explosion.
Passionate about nurturing creativity and championing underrepresented voices, Eidi is the founder of Phonica Music Coaching and creator of The Notes Between, a songwriting mentorship programme that has guided numerous artists from concept to completed album. She is also the host of the award-winning Women in Jazz Media podcast The Notes Between, spotlighting female composers and the often-unheard stories behind the songwriting process.
Whether on stage, in the studio, or mentoring the next generation of artists, Lara Eidi continues to forge a musical path defined by curiosity, connection, fearless honesty, and a belief in music's power to illuminate, empower, and bring people together.
“Music is an omnipotent tool. It has the potential to strengthen and to empower . To bring light where there is dark. But these almost magical moments of connectivity can only be realised if placed in the right hands. Lara Eidi, is those hands” Fiona Ross - Grammy Academy Member, Multi -Award Winning Jazz Artist
